Admit I’m a bit curious, how exactly DO you prove something is bootleg? Some are pretty obvious, but -proof-? Thankfully, has never been my department to have to deal with such things.
In general, at least for DVDs/CDs, the bootlegger wants to “brag.” Their product has to, in some way, be different and/or better than the official product. Series comes in 2 sets? Bootleg comes in 1. Artwork is also often different, at least for DVDs. And the dead giveaway is usually the copyright info. I’ve never personally seen a bootleg a) with the proper copyright info, and b) without the info for the bootleg company.
UnCONventional is a comic that ran from December 2009 to December 2019 about the staff of a small town anime convention and their lives. This is a complete online archive of the comic.
