I would not agree with this. A smaller con is a much better option because it continues the forward motion, keeps the habits alive. Suspend Bork Con for a year, they lose attendees and possibly staff. The con could lose critical mass to continue, or begins a long painful death-spiral.
Can be a hard call, skip utterly, or have a convention that might suck? Better to have people wish for something they can’t have than give them something they don’t want. Maybe. Neither option is ideal.
